Joe Folsom grew up in Central Florida and always knew he wanted to be in sales. As a young child, he would sell oranges from his red wagon door to door. His first real sales job was selling office furniture and equipment. Having an analytical mind, he went on to pursue a career in information technology. Working his way up the corporate ladder as a Regional Sales Manager and later to a national level as a Product Manager, he was responsible for working with, training and assisting with the close of multi-million-dollar projects. With over 350 sales people and 54 offices, in three countries, he was on the road (or in the air) every week.
In 2006, Joe decided to make a career change that would require less
travel so he could spend more time at home with his family. He settled in Chattanooga and partnered with a log home manufacturer to market and sell log homes. To augment his log home business, he got his Real
Estate license in three states and began marketing both to his clients. In 2008, when the Real Estate market was struggling, he decided some diversification was necessary and partnered with an Architect and a builder to offer Design/Build services, in addition to his Real Estate offering.
Today, Joe is partnered with several Architects, Architectural Designers and builders to bring the right new construction offering to his clients. Licensed as a Broker/Realtor in GA and TN, Joe works with both Buyers and Sellers as he continues to offer the right Real Estate solution, from first time home buyers to last home buyers, wanting to make their dream home a reality. While the Modern Rustic Living Team sells homes all over GA & TN, most of their time is spent focusing on the North Georgia Mountains and the Eastern Tennessee valley. We are currently featuring new homes for sale in Georgia including Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Jasper, Mineral Bluff, Blairsville, Talking Rock and Morganton as well as Ducktown & Turtletown in Tennessee.
Joe lives with his wife, Kathie in their home in Ellijay, GA along with their trusty dog, Ruger. Joe and Kathie spend their free time enjoying gardening and canning. Their new toy is a freeze dryer where they preserve the bounty of their garden. Joe and Kathie also enjoy traveling as well as boating and fishing on Carters Lake in Ellijay, GA.

Kathie Folsom grew up in Texas. She was always one who loved to work with people. Her first job was running a concession stand at a roller skating rink at the age of fourteen. Her career path has been wide ranging, which has given her a multitude of skill sets. As a Navy veteran, she worked in the intelligence field as a Cryptologist. This allowed her to live in several countries and experience many different cultures. After leaving military service Kathie continued her love of working with people, using her talents to recruit, train and coordinate volunteers as an Executive Director, with non-profit groups like the American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. In 2001, Kathie joined a technology company as a Contract Manager, which inspired her to start her own business, Proposal Management Solutions.
In 2009, as the economy was struggling, Kathie and her family moved to the north Georgia mountains. In tow was her aging father and late husband, both of whom required full time care. Her focus on caring and serving others needs became a priority. After their passing, she met Joe in 2011. Once again her experience and compassion was called on as a full time
caregiver for Joe's parents, both of whom struggled with chronic diseases, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Today, Kathie has joined her husband Joe as a Realtor and partner at Modern Rustic Living. Together, they bring unmatched energy, expertise and focus to help their clients with all their real estate dreams.
